Concert Reviews David Cassidy LIVE in Peshawbestown, MILeelanau Sands Casino, Peshawbestown, Michigan, USA - Saturday, June 7, 2003
I told Carol to stop and give the box office her name for one of the posters. They were taking names to give away the posters of David that were in the casino. Onto the show. We had front row center seats. Carol had both of our tickets and said pick a ticket, so I did. I was seat #10, right in front of David and the microphone. It was heaven. First, two disc jockeys from the local radio station came out to say that David said he was going to rock the house tonight. And then the disc jockey asked where all the winners of the contest were sitting. All raised their hands.
David finally came out, starting with ‘I Can Feel Your Heartbeat’, then ‘Hush’, then ‘No Bridge I Wouldn't Cross’. I will always remember ‘Bridge’ as long as I live. I was wearing my scarf that I had made. It had the words, I He did the blues number from Friday night’s performance. He said he performed it for the first time unrehearsed last night. Again, it was great. We all felt special because we were the first to hear it, Friday and Saturday. He was joking about the technical problems he had the night before. Again when he placed his guitar in its stand, he moved away from it slowly, and then said, sit, and then stay. This time the guitar listened. There was one time when he sat on the prompter near the front of the stage, and said he wanted to dispel all rumors about his health. I thought what was wrong with him. Then he said I just want to tell everyone that I am not dead. I don’t know why he brought it up. Carol then told Judi, who sat next to her, nice view. Well, David heard that, looked down, and then got up, and knew what she meant, and then went back to the microphone. He looked over at the front row, and said the view from up here isn’t bad either. I just love when he talks to the audience like he does. He is so spontaneous. Carol had her turn with her scarf that I made her. She wanted David’s sweat like I did. She handed her scarf to David; he wiped his face with it. Now Carol had his sweat and smell, too. It was some evening. Throughout the evening, fans threw panties at David. He took each one and stuffed it into his pants pocket. At one time, he said they are getting kind of cozy down there. Too funny. He eventually threw them back into the audience. I read in the newspaper from Casino Rama, that he donates the underwear to goodwill. It was over way too fast. This night he did come out for an encore, but he only sang Hollywood Nights. He said it was by Bob Seger, a northern boy, then corrected himself and said Bob Seger was from Detroit. That is why I love that song so much; David sings a song originally sung by Bob Seger, who is from the Detroit area, from where I was raised. If some of you don’t know, David has a girl drummer. I can’t remember her name, but she is good. And David told the guys in the audience, and she is cute, too. I know there are some things I forgot, and please forgive me if I did. After the show, Carol and I made our way back to the box office. I saw a bunch of posters sitting on the back table. Carol got hers. I got the one where we had our picture taken. Carol said she loved this Casino. This was the only one we went to that offered the posters to us. I made David a plaque of some of the pictures I took of David from various concerts I saw him at. I asked at the box office how I could get it to him. They said give it to security, that security was taking all gifts that fans were giving to David. So I gave it to one of the security woman when we handed our tickets and entered the showroom. I saw the security woman taking it up front before the concert. I hope he gets. I also gave one of the girls, Carrie, at the box office two pictures in frames that I took of Lisa and Candace with David. She said she would give them to security also. Stupid me didn’t enclose a card. But if Lisa or Candace ever reads this, my name is on the back of the picture. When we left on Sunday, I said good-bye to Carol. It was raining again. I was on my way back to home, a long 6-hour drive, and she was on her way back to the Traverse City airport to go to Detroit and then home. She did call me the next day and told me that she just missed seeing David at the Traverse City airport by 45 minutes. The guy who checked her bag noticed David’s picture and told her he was just here. What luck, or not. Can’t wait until the next concert.
