David Cassidy LIVE in Bournemouth
Bournemouth International Centre, UK May 3, 2004
Rose, Karen and I left Rose’s place at about 8.30am, caught a bus to
the train station. Bound for Bournemouth now,and arrive there about 12 noon.
Guess what? Its raining!
We got a taxi
from the train station to our Hotel. We were early for check in, but
they allowed us to put our luggage in our room before they finished
cleaning it. We went for a look around Bournemouth International
Centre, collected my ticket from the box office (A5), took some pix of
us standing next to David’s huge poster, and then went through the
park to get to the shops to do some more shopping for presents for
home. We bumped into Gail and Janie near the pier. Karen and I bought
some ‘rock’, then we went to get some fish and chips, and sat on the
beachside eating it. I couldn’t believe that people were actually in
the water! It was freezing to an Aussie like me.
We went back to out
hotel room, organised our clothes for tonight’s show and then Karen
and I went back over to the BIC to see if we can see David coming in
for a sound check. What a bunch of groupies, LOL. We met 4 other fans
there doing the same thing, and we waited there for almost 2 hours. In
that time we went for a walk down underneath towards the stage door,
saw the tour bus...a huge black bus...parked underneath, and then a
security guard told us we weren’t allowed down there. DAH!
We went
back up to wait, had a lot of laughs with the other girls and the band
came walking down the road and said hi as they passed us. Everytime a
car came around the bend we thought it might be David. People must
have wondered why these 6 women were peering into their cars, LOL. It
was so funny. The band eventually came out again, and it was obvious
David wasn’t doing a sound check today, so Karen and I went back to
our hotel to get ready. We met Lesley M & Sue R there. Boy had my
nerves gone troppo by now. Reality hit!!! "This could be the night"
kept ringing through my head.
We met Rose’s friend Angie and her hubby
and daughter downstairs in the bar before venturing across to the BIC
at about 7.15pm. There were heaps of people there already, and we
checked out the merchandise, deciding to buy it after the show. We met
up with Gail and Janie again, plus met Leigh, Mandy, Agi, Lesley G,
Sheila, Nic D, Jojo and others who I can’t remember their names (sorry
girls). I was so nervous, my stomach was doing flip-flops!
Rose and I
went in to get our seats at about 7.40. The atmosphere was over
whelming! The lights went down, the band came on and we rushed to the
stage! David came on and OMG I could not believe I was seeing him in
the flesh! I could not believe how close I was to him either.
He
opened with Hush, and then Echo Valley. He went along the audience
touching hands, and I hung my g-string that Aussie Rose made for me
over my hand. He came to me, put his hand out, held my hand for a
second then took my undies. He read them, rolled his eyes with a big
grin on his face and gave me back the undies!! I took a pic of
that!!! I was in heaven, and I think he was too. I can’t remember the
order of the songs from then...heavy fog....but I remember him doing
Summer Days, ITILY, Daydreamer, Cherish, I can feel your heartbeat,
Common Thief, Last Kiss, Rock me baby, How can I be sure, I woke up in
love. He took the Aussie flag of mine that I gave to Karen and she
also gave him a toy platypus....he actually knew what it was. He also
took Jojo’s undies.
For the acoustic section
they made us all sit back
in our seats, saying that if we got up they would chuck us out. We
were good little girls and sat for that entire part, but as soon as he
went to pick up his electric guitar, we were all back at the stage. I
was glad that they got us to sit down for that bit, David did No
Reply, Blackbird, Hide your love away, Ricky’s tune, Sweet lil Angel
and ITILY. The show was over all too quickly, and somehow I had
managed to take about 90 pix at this one, but there were a few that
didn’t come out. I had 3 hand holds in total. I loved how David chatted
between songs, not just sang. He was a pretty happy guy that night
too. I had a couple of close encounters of the third kind right in
front of me, if you know what I mean.
After the show I bought some of
the merchandise for the girls back home who had given me money to do
so, and bought myself a black t shirt, photo and calendar. We went
back to the bar at the hotel, where we stayed until about 3.30am.
There was a young Italian guy came in while we were
there...Marco...and we ate his hot chips..but that’s another story,
and I’ll never tell LOL. I couldn’t sleep, I was so on a high! I think
being sober didn’t help me either, LOL. Maybe I should have had a drink
to help me sleep. I think I had 1/2 to maybe an hours sleep. Off to
Brighton next!
