120 Years of Chefoo Schools

13th - 16th June 2000

Introduction

Next June, school will be out for the last time at Chefoo, Malaysia. One hundred and twenty years of school is a lot of class work, a lot of school and endless memories and stories. Chefoo School is a specialschool with a rich heritage of faith. We're planning to finish well and we want you to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime event.

While the Chefoo Celebration will obviously have a Malaysian focus we will be reflecting on Chefoo Schools from China days on. There will be a special program and thanksgiving service.

 

The Programme

What do you want to see in the program? At this stage we've thought of:

  • Visiting those favourite old haunts at school and in the surrounding area, e.g. the pony hut, Primeval forest, jungle walks, the tea estate
  
  • Readings from the old Chefoo magazines
  
  • This is Chefoo : looking at Chefoo life over the years with a variety concert
  
  • Old photos and displays
  
  • Chefoo songs
  
  • Those games and activities that were only truly played and enjoyed at Chefoo
  
  • A ride in the Regal bus and a Mercedes taxi
  
  • Favourite feasts : marshmallows, roti breakfast with Mr Dass

Arrangements

Participants will need to arrange their own travel to and from the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia. However, people travelling from certain parts of the world may decide to make their own group travel arrangements.

Later in the year we'll advise about accommodation possibilities. It will not be possible to provide accommodation at the school or the nearby OMF Bungalow. We're currently investigating options in Brinchang and Tanah Rata.

Keep in touch. This information is being sent to everyone who has expressed an interest in Chefoo's closing and all ex-staff we are able to contact. We would like the news to go to as many ex-students as possible. Can you help with this by asking interested people to make contact to ensure they get future Celebration Bulletins. We need all the people we can find to make this a memorable event.
