Cronin family of Skibbereen and Merthyr Tydfil, Wales

Mary Cronin born Cork 1843--Married- Patrick Scannell born Cork 1841-at St, Patricks Cathedral Church- in the Parish of Skibbereen, in the Diocese of Ross, on the 13th of February 1859, in the presence of witnesses, Joanna Cronin and Timothy Burke. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev J. Obrien.

They then left Ireland to settle in Dowlais, Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, where their first child Timothy was born in January 1860. There followed 7 other siblings:- Ellen 1862, Denis 1864, Michael 1866, Mary 1867, Margaret 1879, John 1873 (my grandfather) and James 1876. All were Baptised at St, Illtyds RC Church, Dowlais.

I feel certain that their roots are in Skibbereen, but have not found final proof, so if anyone reading this can identify with it in any way, please make contact with williamsfamilly@msn.com
Thank you
Graham Williams son of Catherine Scannell (deceased).
