1766 religious census of cloyne
In 1766 the Church of Ireland rectors were instructed to make a return of all the households in their parishes, indicating the religious persuasion of each. The original returns were destroyed in the 1922, but in 1901-2 the Rev. Bartholomew O'Keeffe made a complete transcription of the Diocese of Cloyne. There were 67 parishes or unions in Cloyne at that time, of these 42 made returns that named the head of the household, 21 returned numbers only, and 4 made no return at all.
The returns of four parishes in the Diocese of Cork and Ross (Dunbulloge, Kilmichael, Rathbarry, and Ringrone) have also survived but these are not included in the list below.
