The tui is a bird of the native forest. It is a honey eater and feeds mainly on nectar, plus fruits and insects. It is a song bird.

The maori equated the tui with eloquence in the proverb:

Me he horokoro tui”.

Like the throat of a tui.

The tui is renowned for its song, to which the voice of an eloquent orator or sweet singer is compared.

Any NZ bird can be done as a wood relief panel in one of the above two styles between $ 150 and $ 200 depending on size. If you want more of a three dimensional effect, then 50 mm ( 2”) thick plank can be used. The price could also double.

Manaia
