I did a series of photographs recording
several dance sequences. My model was studying dance at the time too, so
there were no instructions on my part. I did several larger studies
using custom board and plywood. They were single images frozen in time.
I wanted to capture the movement. So I tried a sequence; of the same
person but some five to ten seconds apart. This was also trying out a
subject for an engraving, so I tried to get my lines as thin as
possible. |

The board I
used was rimu but there must have been some natural repellent for the
ink not to take in the top half, so making a horizon.
On this scale, the facial expressions are hard to execute. |
