The white faced (blue) heron is self introduced from Australia. They
were occasionally recorded in the 1900's, did not start breeding till the
forties, getting well established in the sixties and now are widespread. They
are now common in estuaries, wetlands, lakes and open pastures.
This model has curved wings which I achieved by bending thinner ply
(4.5 mm) and then gluing a re-enforcement strip on the edge to secure the bend,
making the leading edge thicker.
