MAORI MOTIFS 2

The door lintel (pare) was a vital carving in the traditional ceremonial carved house  and of ritualistic importance because it neutralised harmful tapu as a person entered or left a house. Pare in general provide a range of manaia interspersed with tiki figures. Manaia commonly form the outer ends of the lintels, with supplementary spirals.

Manaia

This is my own composition and meaning.

From the central figure, energy radiate from spiral

On the left one spiral has been constructed, and the second is in process. A team effort is required to fit one spiral into the other to form a double spiral

On the right, the second spiral is already complete, but not the end one.
