PROFILE
|
Hi, my name is Gregor Koolen.
I live in the Anatoki valley near Takaka, Golden Bay.
|
 |
My horizon is defined by two mountain ranges, sometimes spanned by a rainbow.
At the end of that rainbow is a cave, the cave of the adze:
TE ANATOKI.
Anatoki is my mountain, and my river.
It is the source of my inspiration, and gives the name to my workshop and
business.
|
| I share this beautiful valley with friends, forming the Rainbow Valley Community.
We have worked hard to build our community, starting with the undeveloped
land. Generating an income in this locality has been difficult, but slowly I
have built up tools and a workshop, and extended my skills, so as to make a living
in the field of my passion - working with wood.
|
|
In the last couple of years I have been designing and creating plywood
sculptures for bird-lovers and gardeners. These are labours of love, unique and
- I hope you agree - beautiful objects.
Crafted for durability, they come in different finishes, which effects their
price.
