CELTIC and MAORI MOTIFS  print box

I am interested in making prints. Both photographic prints in black and white and woodcuts. For a woodcut you cut a picture in a plank of wood (usually), roll ink on top, place paper on top and press. Take the paper off and you got an image in reverse. When done on the end grain it is possible to engrave very fine lines and the early newspapers used them so technical skills were highly developed in the west. In Japan, woodcuts with many colours also developed to a high standard, to be used as posters for theatre performance.

When I read that in Japan they keep their prints in a box, for coming out on special occasions, so that they can be handled and viewed directly, without intervening glass, I liked the idea so much I made several.

Print box with carved lid and incised sides.

Dimensions: 600x400x80

Rimu, with custom board bottom.

Price $ 450

The smaller, computer version (A4) of the print is included free.

The lid could be any of the Celtic Heritage series. This one is of the New Zealand Heritage series. I re-enforced the lid with aluminum angle to stop excessive warping.

The print is an illustration of a song written by a friend and fellow Anatokian Bill Holloway. Its title is Dance of Love. This is thus a joint effort.
