Since beginning to handpaint lace bobbins, I have painted over sixty different original designs in flowers, victorian themes, birds, animals and dolphins, to list a few. I have found that the series I have painted on our New Zealand native birds, really popular, with New Zealanders as well as visiting overseas lacemakers. I normally have a selection on hand but never the complete range. Each bobbin is slightly different. It takes more time to paint the native birds, trying to capture their personallities. The bobbins are handturned of hard woods by a professional bobbin maker, Chris Symthe, in New Zealand.
