Seymour has now been back on the road for a full year following his refurbishment. In that time he has picked up two awards. The first was a third place for People Choice at the Motat Galaxy of cars show. This was a great surprise as he was picked out from more than 300 cars ranging from Minis to Jaguars. The second was the Auckland Mini club's most improved car. I have to say I was pretty chuffed with this one. I would need to do some serious work on the engine and engine bay before Seymour could be considered as a concourse car. However, it has certainly been nice knowing that all the rust has been removed and that any future tidying up is going to be an improvement. Now Seymour is no longer being used as a daily hack I can really get to enjoy using him knowing that he won't be in need of another rebuild for many years to come.

This page is just a small glance at what we have been up to over the last 12 months.

Check out that Porsche trying to get in on the action. Some people really do need to get a life of their own.

The last few months have seen Seymour emerge as a bit of a media personality.

Firstly he was asked to appear in an advert for On Road New Zealand. On Road is one of the companies that specialise in providing the twice annual warrant of fitness test that is a requirement for all cars on New Zealand's roads. The partner of a work colleague was producing and directing the ad. The client was undecided whether they wanted a Mini or a Beetle.....eventually they saw the light and we did the ad. Pretty easy work I have to say. Turn up, eat sausage rolls, drink coffee, take money, go home. I think a career change could be in order!

Our next gig was just by chance. We had attended a 40th anniversary show at Pukekohe race course which also included the prologue for the 2003 Targa NZ. One of the entrants was driving a rather rapid new Mini pumping out over 400 BHP. They had a documentary team following them and asked if they could borrow Seymour to shoot the beginning of their doco.

My favourite event this year has to have been the Mini fun day hosted by the Mini Racing Club at Taupo raceway. This annual Mini only event is an open invite from the club to spend a day putting your car to it's paces on the track. Those that are a little timid about taking their babies on the track can catch a ride in one of the race cars. They all have passenger seats fitted for the day and, if you ask nice enough, will take you out for the ride of your life. Believe me, if you think you can drive a Mini these guys will show you just how much you still have to learn. Awesome!
