The most common question I hear when talking about dyno testing is “Is it accurate?” A better question would be “Is it repeatable?”
As the dyno operator, I can easily make your KT100 engine show 45 horsepower at 25000 rpm on the graph, but that would be of little use to anyone ( except for bragging).
What is important is that I can run several tests on the same motor over a few days, and providing nothing has been done to the motor, produce the same horsepower and torque readings. It is important to know that the gains or losses you see are related to the changes you have made to the pipe( or head, or carb, or timing etc).
The power figures on the graph represent the power at the output shaft of the gearbox, after internal losses. They are corrected for temperature, humidity and pressure, so that they can be compared on a “standard” day.
