Because the message board (forum) is free, we have to put up with some advertising. Please be not put off by that, it's harmless, just a bit of a nuisance. If the page you get doesn't look like my forum, it's an ad, so just X it and you'll find it underneath. Vanessa arrives at Auckland airport at about 7 pm Tuesday 23 October 2007. I really wanted to be at the airport to welcome her, after all, it's not as though she comes to visit every week. But I finally agreed with Anita and Vanessa that it was a bit much to ask Bob to come and pick me up from the ferry, take me to the airport and then drop us off back at the ferry again. I love living on Waiheke, but this is one of the few occasions where I don't, being so dependant on other people to take me places. Because it was going to be fairly late by the time she arrived on the island, Vanessa also insisted I just stay at home, she would get a cab... Until I realised that at 10:35 pm, it was unlikely there'd be a cab waiting at that time of night, there would be few, if any, visitors to the island and the locals would have made prior arrangements. So I decided to pick her up. (in hindsight, I could have ordered a cab to be there, oh well...) Vanessa drove us home, she remembered the way (in the dark) perfectly! We were sitting on the deck finishing lunch the next day when someone walked up the drive . . . it was Karl! What a surprise that was! It just so happened that he had a job to do on Waiheke that day and decided to say hello to Vanessa. The following Thursday we went to a BeeGees tribute concert and had a great time, didn't we, Vanessa! (pity I forgot to bring my camera!)
