They all migrated to New Zealand in 1916 during the World War 1 to Oxford Canterbury
In the mid 1920's , their son Archibold James went to Tasmania to visit aunty.
His parents and family joined him. James died suddenly of a heart attack when he was travelling on his rounds as rep. for Singer Sewing machine co in 1932
JAMES MANNING lived (1) Lower Street, Rathdrum and (2) "Woodbine Cottage", Avoca Road, Rathdrum. He was a traveller for Comerfords Flour Mills Rathdrum and later became their Office Manager at the mill. They had a small farm attached to "Woodbine Cottage. They went to New Zealand in 1916, somewhere near Oxford, Christchurch, South Island. In a few years, they upstakes and went to Launceston, Tasmania. In Tasmania, James Manning travelled in farm machinery and possibly farm supplies and at the time of his death was a traveller for Rawleighs.
His sons; Archibald was proprietor/partner in Reeman & Manning, Launceston (New and Used Car Dealers, having the franchise for G.M.H. vehicles), Sydney became Secretary of Burnie Board Mills, having previously been Council Clerk of St. Leonards, Tas. and Smithton, Tas., William was in Melbourne.The Mannings left the Church of Ireland while in Rathdrum and joined a group of Protestan
