In the book "The Rebellion in Wicklow in 1798" there is mentioned that a Abraham Manning, who had returned from delivering despatches to Gorey on
Sunday ,1 July 1798 saw rebells ambushing a Patrol.
Not sure who this Abraham was? In the Naming Pattern this should be the elest brother of Thomas name, May be born Feb 1767?

Edmund- died Caulfield a suburb of Melbourne in 1913 aged 73. There appears
to be four children recorded (you did send me this information earlier).
Herbert b. 1877 in Sandhurst- Eva b. 1879- Percival b. 1880 and Edith
Florence b. 1890. I haven't tracked them any further yet. Edmund's wife
Emily Josephine died 1892 aged 41 (could still be Rathdrum Manning as they
married in Dublin?). Edmund remarried to Elizabeth Ann Colville in 1893 and
she died in Caulfield in 1919 aged 75.

Francis died 1876 in Sandhurst. The one kicked by a horse?

Elizabeth Bourke died 1914- haven't got information on husband Thomas
Bourke yet.

Am slowly digging up more information- will seek death certificates for
conformation.

Mentioning a previous deed dated 12th Aug 1817 that the Earl Fitzwilliam
above and the Rt Hon. Charles William Wentworth FitzWilliam, commonly called
Viscount Melton only son & heir apparent of said Earl did lease to William
Manning all that land and Buildings is at Ballygannon then in the occupation of
Garth Ollagan also closed parcels of ground being part of lands of Ballygannon
containing 8 acres 1 rod & ten parcels of Plantation measure late in lease to
John Wingrove deceased, bounded Eastward by lands in lease to Edward Byrne,
Westward by John Jenkinson holding northwards other lands in lease to the said
William Manning and Southward by the high road between Rathdrum & Baltinglass.
all which said premises were then in possession of the said William Manning
and his undertentants said Garrett Ollaghan and are situated in the Barony of
Ballinacor and county Wicklow. To Hold to said William Manning for the Life of
James Manning therein named or the term of 21 Years at a yearly rent of Ð28.2
or Ð19 a therein that delt
This is a paraphrase of the first part of the document, dealing with the original deed with William
Manning in 1817 leasing land off the Earl and describing the land position. James is most likely the
son of George & Elizabeth born 3 May 1811 and died 5 April 1831.The next part deals with the will of
William Manning that was made in 1837
Mentioned a reciting tha4t said William Manning had since died & by his
will dated 18/12/1837 he bequeathed to his wife Elizabeth Manning
the aford said lands & premises for her support and maintenance and
her children till they arrival of age and further bequeathed said lands
absolutely to said Samuel Manning on his attaining the age of 24
years, subject to support of Elizabeth Manning and should she not reside
with Samuel Manning then William's will had Samuel pay out from the
lands during her life Ð10 per annum
The deed further said that Samuel Manning had attained age 24 years of
age and was in possession of the said lands and continued to pay
annuity to Elizabeth Manning, having preferred to reside
elsewhere, and stated that the estate of the said lessors in said
indenture of lease hath became legally vested in said William Thomas
Spencer Wentworth Earl FitzWilliam and that Samuel Manning has
proposed to surrender the said lands to Earl FitzWilliam and the said
Elizabeth Manning by Indenture bearing the same date as deed said
that Samuel Manning in consideration of five shillings has granted
assignment in release confirmed surrendered and yielded up into Earl
FitzWilliam all that & those the said herein before mentioned lands
and premises with the appointments and ample manner as same demised
by said rented lease of 13th Aug 1817 together with the tenants part of
the lease. To hold all and singular said lands and premises into Earl
FitzWilliam, his heirs and assigns for and during the rest residue and
remainder of the terms granted by said indentive of lease.
The rest is dealing with signing and witnessing.

Notes: William Manning was born in 1837 at Ballyteigue, in
Townland of Corballis, Rathdrum, County Wicklow. Son of
William Manning and Elizabeth nee Saul. Rathdrum, a market and post town and
a parish,in the barony of Ballinacor.
William Manning, Butcher and Bachelor, on the 15th of April 1875 at the Royal
Hotel Kakanui married Margaret Flynn, Hotel Keeper and Widow daughter of
John and Jenny Mooney Maiden name McKerry aged 25 years. Place of birth
Kooshindale County Antrim. Officalating minister P O'Leary Witnesses John
Cahill Boarding House Keeper Oamaru and John Dooley Hotel Keeper Oamaru. In
1877 William was born. Margaret died 26th July 1877 of Puerperal Fever at the
age of 26, having been in New Zealand for 6 years. She left 1 male, William,
and 3 female children. She is buried at the old Oamaru cemetery Block 12 Plot
28, also buried is William their son who died in Oamaru Hospital 25 Nov 1893
aged 16, of hip Disease.The legal desciption of Kakanui Hotel was: Section 1
and 2 Block 8 Kakanui North. Wiliam Manning, aged 42 Hotelkeeper and Widower
was Married on the 15th January 1880 at the Residence of Rev Wm Coleman
Oamaru. He married Honora Whelan, (Whalen) aged 22 servant and Spinster born
in Longstone, County Tipperary. Daughter of David Whelan and "Johnanna Whelan
formerly Hayes, Farmers. Honora had arrived in New Zealand in 1876. The
wedding was witnessed by Stephen Markham, Hotelkeeper, Ellen Whelan, servant
of Whiterocks Oamaru. On 24th May 1880 a son was born. Victor David ;
Elizabeth Florence Manning born at Kakanui on 2nd July 1881. She was
registered under the name of Eliza. At the time of the birth of Elizabeth
William was prop of the Royal Hotel Kakanui. As he had been since at least
1877. On 13th October 1889 a daughter was born in Oamaru ; Catherine Sopina,
William was 52 On 18th Nov 1889 Honora Manning died at the age of 35. of two
illnesses one she had for 2 Years, and Bronchitis which she had for 10 days.
By 1890 he was Prop of Criterion Hotel Tyne St Oamaru. 19th June 1890 William
Manning Married Ellen Haggie age 25 Spinster born Oamaru daughter of John
Haggie and Ellen Haggie maiden name Quinne of Oamaru at the Criterion Hotel.
Father John Mackay Parish priest of St Patricks was the officiating minister.
25th Nov 1893 Young William died age 16. It would appear that William was
Church of Ireland, thus not being married in St Patricks while Honora sister
Ellen was married there. All his children were brought up as Catholics
On the 7th of Dec 1894 was given a temporally licence for the Club Hotel
George St Timaru taking over licence from Charles Fleming Wederall who took
over licence after a Mrs Smith left. In the minutes of the Annual General
Meeting of the Licencing Authority in Timaru 7th June 1895 a application from
William Manning was recorded. The Electoral roll for Timaru 1896 shows William
Manning on Page 45 no on Roll 2423 and on page 44 roll No 2421 Ellen Manning
domestic duties of Club Hotel. The minutes of Licensing Committee 14th June
1897 records that Publican Licence was granted to W Manning. In 1898 the
licence for the Club hotel was granted to Daniel Maloney.
William Died 26 May 1907 having a heart attack while choping fire wood

Honora came from Longstone Tipperary. on board the Ship
Timaru, leaving Glasgow 21st July 1876. Also aboard were
Timothy aged 30 a ploughman and Ellen aged 26 shown as
dairymaid as was Honora. There was 3 townlands called Longstone in Tipperary.
5.5 miles NNW from Tipperary, in 1837 had a prop. of 153. There showed a Will'm Whealan with 34 Acres 1 rod 10 perches and in the next townland another 54 Acres. In the next townland, Drominclara there shows a Patt
Hayes. The other part of Longstone is in the civic parish of Cullen = Lattin & Cullen catholic parish. Could not locate records of this area. Honora arrived in New Zealand in 1876. On 15th January 1880 Married William
Manning, aged 42 Hotelkeeper and Widower at the Residence of Rev Wm Coleman Oamaru. The Marriage Register shows Honora Whelan, aged 22 servant and Spinster born in Longstone, County Tipperary. Daughter of

That's it. There is no mention of either Charles Saul or Edmund. She
mention's Emma's death date (May 29, 1927) and the death of her son, William
Francis Woodward at age 5, September 3, 1873, but that is all on the Sauls.
