Entry of death 10 Dec 1892 at Clifton Hill registration district, Melbourne, presumably at brother Edmond's, as place of death is recorded as Queens PdeNth Fitzroy. Edmund was the informant for details and was same address as recorded for Thomas. From some other research of Wiseman's trade directory for Victoria, Edmund's grocers shop was at 292-294 Queens Pde Nth Fitzroy. Probably lived above the shop- most shops in this area are two storeyterrace Victorian buildings.

Abraham was the 3rd son of Abraham Manning & Catherine Saul Manning. He migrated to Australia ( unassisted) in the wooden sailing ship Merlin of 937 tons built 1851 which left Liverpool 24 Sept 1853 and arrived in Melbourne 17 Jan 1854. His Occupation was stated as Farmer and he was booked to Sydney. But due to the discovery of gold at Sandhurst (Bendigo) he disembarked in Melbourne and made his way to the goldfields on foot and was one of the pioneer digger in that field. For a while he worked on at Maryborough and then at Eaglehawk where he carried on alluvial digging with success.

Abraham lived in a tent on the property no doubt run cattle or horses.
On 9 Aug 1870 married Elizabeth Ann Horseman at White Hills
Another brother Edmond and only living sister Elizabeth were witness to the Marriage. The married couple carried on farming at Bagshot living in a tent and pumping water from Reedy Creek which run though the property.
Their first child Henry Horsman Manning was born 20th July 1871 Abraham would have been aged 36.
On 29th April 1873 Abraham purchased from the Crown Allotment 249 Section E Parish of Sandhurst at Bendigo Frontingon to Bridge Street (now no. 63) and subsequently became a dealer there. The Bagshot property being left idle. Meantime on 10 July 1872 Abraham younger brother Edmond had purchased Crown Allotment 4 Section 102c fronting on McCrae Street Between Arnold & Baxter Streets and operated a Hay & Corn store there. The previous occupier had been Edward Manning. Abraham & Edmond entered into partnership in 1874.
In 1876 Edmond took a trip home and on 20 Sept of that year married Emily Josephine Manning in Dublin and the couple came to Benigo early 1877.
In 1878 the Partnership was dissolved , Abraham purchased Edmond's half shares. Edmond in that year commenced business as a grocer and wine & sprit merchant in a rented shop in Heidelberg Road North Fitzroy , Later became Queens Parade.
In 1881 Abraham purchased Crown Allotment 3 Section 102c next to his store and on which was a smithy. Then in 1891 he purchased a section closer to Baxter Street and by 1893 had a new house built " Corballis" later 270 McCrae Street. Abraham retired in 1900 and subsequently died of a heart affection at Corballis on 24 January 1905 aged 69 years and buried in the White Hills Cemetery, Church of England Section. and lived there for some years until purchasing a property at 3 Glenferrie Street Malvern where she passed away on 28 July 1929 and is buried in the St Kilda Cemetery, other denominations section grave D74a near Alma Street gate.
