This site was written entirely in Microsoft Notepad, the text editor that comes with Windows (currently running XP SP2). The chief reason for editing the site in Notepad is to have greater control of the look and feel of it. Anyway, I like writing my pages in raw html code. I guess that I'm an internet geek at heart.
My very first site was hosted on Yahoo's Geocities, from October 1999 until 2001 when I signed up for Paradise.net.nz's webhosting service. I used Geocities' Online Page builder for a while, then "moved on up" to Netscape Composer to compose pages, as you do. I'm now using Notepad to edit the html, and Adobe Photoshop to edit my graphics.
This site has gone through many changes, in both look and name. First it was called "Kiwiguy International", then "Kiwiqueer's World" just after I had started coming out in 2000. "Kiwiqueer Online" followed shortly after. After that I renamed the site "Kiwiqueer.com", then "Kiwiqueer.net.nz" soon after changing over to Paradise.net.nz's webhosting service. "Planet Kiwiqueer" is another iteration.
Now my creation is named "DJ's Site" - with a proper domain name: www.djssite.com. It's simple, short and easy to remember.
This site is best viewed in Mozilla Firefox, at a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, although it looks fine in Internet Explorer, although I really do recommend using a standards-compliant, relatively secure browser.
In all the time that I've had a website, I've learned a lot about design. I've also had the opportunity to teach myself html. It's been wonderful so far!!! In fact, it's something I'd like to do as a career - designing websites for clients would be a great thing to do.
Who knows what the future will bring for my little corner on the World Wide Web?
