Coyote Racing History

It all started with being a crew member for my fathers race cars in the late 70's & 80's at Woodford Glen. I then began crewing for other drivers of other grades in the quest to gain more knowledge of racecar setups.

In the early 90's crewing just didn't do it for me, I had this itch in my foot that I could not get rid of until someone gave me a drive in their car, itch gone.

This lead to the purchase of my first racecar, A Hillman Hunter street saloon.

This class was a bottom level entry class of racing run at Oxford Speedway. (A member track of the south island federation of motor speedways) In this car we achieved 2nd in the 1992 South Island Grand Prix. This got wrecked in the ladies championship at the same meeting. I build a replacement and campaigned it for the rest of the season, with both good & bad results. The good being some firsts & the bad being lots of blown engines before selling it.

After this I had a break from the sport to follow other interests only to get the itch back. So I built and setup a couple of cars for other people. No good the itch didn't go away so I built up a mini saloon. (dirt track version of mini sevens) of which I campaigned for about 4 years with limited success the highest championship finishes being 3rd in the 94-95 Canterbury Champs.

This car subsequently got sold due to family commitments, with this came a holiday from motor racing.
