Flights of Fancy is an interactive story that has grown over the last several years to become a complete world, known as the Realm, ruled over by the Empress, Suzanne. In the Realm characters initially based on those played by Alan Rickman in movies and on stage, take on a whole new life and interests. Only the names are taken from the Rickman character, they are from that point their author's creation and are not intended to bear much resemblance the original.
Because these characters from different eras all exist in one place and time, there is a mix of the old with the new. For example while staying at Delaford, Hans Gruber can still use his cellphone.
The storylines are written sometimes in collaboration with others (especially when everyone gets together for a party), or as a stand-alone story. The story is a neverending one and follows the lives of these characters, and the female characters added to keep life interesting.
Another twist is that occasionally things are seen from the perspective of actors, who under the direction of AR the Director, are each seemingly being filmed on the Flights of Fancy set.
Writing for Flights of Fancy is for fun, and new writers are always welcomed. Before you jump in and start writing, it is a good idea to have ‘lurked’ and read for a while. Chose a character to write about who isn’t already being used by someone. There are plenty to chose from, check out Alan Rickman’s Resume if you are unsure who to pick.
If you would like to collaborate with someone on a story, or write something about their characters, please ask them first. Most of the time they’ll say yes, it’s a great idea, but it’s nice to be asked first.
If you have any questions or any of the other writers on Flights of Fancy.
