our gardens
the previous
owners had a n.z native nursery here so we have extensive native plantings
all around the property and have begun perennial gardens in a paddock
next to the house.
below are some
photos of our n.z native gardens and also a pond we put in there.
we also enjoy perennial
gardening and as mentioned earlier we began a perennial garden in the paddock
next to the house.below are some pics of it when we first made and two
of it since we have begun to plant it out.
the first step
was to take out all the stock fences dividing it then marking the garden
outline with a spray can then spraying with herbicide to kill all the weeds
then leaving for a season.
we then let all
the weeds come back again then resprayed and mulched heavily with pea straw
and begun to plant.we used smooth river rocks for the edging as they were
easy to come by in the riverbeds close to us.

with weed killer the portion to be rotary hoed then again used rocks as
a border.
