The Gift.

The first time that I heard you

I was simply amazed

that you had a beating heart

in a matter of days.

I don’t know where you have come from

or what you have to bring but

already you fill us with such joy

though you are just a tiny thing.

I know you are a gift

more precious than all the money

and to look in to your eyes

will be sweeter than honey.

And when I can hold you

so small and afraid

you are bound to show me

the best thing we ever made.
