The Big Day!

Hello,

After a thirteen month engagement, Michael and I got married yesterday, 13th May. The day went wonderfully and we had no problems. Everything was a success. I can't wait to get some photos to share with you all.

There is heaps of stuff for me to tell you all about, but I don't think I'll have time until after I get back from my honeymoon to Europe, in July.

The last fews days leading up to the wedding were a blur of last minute chores and of meeting up with people. We had relatives and friends flying in from all sorts of places, and I tried hard to meet up with all of them before the wedding day. I met my Great Aunt Anne and my Second Cousin Deborah, which was great. My Father arrived on Friday and we collected him and Liz and Stephen too, all from the same flight. Dad stayed with us over the weekend, which was lovely. Michael did another airport run and brought his folks back to meet my father (for the first time). All in all it was a very exciting time catching up wih everybody.

I slept okay the night before, although It took me a while to get to sleep. I was up late giving myself a manicure and trying to tire myself out gently. The day dawned and we got busy with our preparations - honestly, I can't even remember most of the getting ready, aside from worrying several times what Michael was up too as he dissapeared here, there and everywhere picking up suits and flowers, dropping off decorations, hauling all my gear to the hotel etc...

I met up with my bridesmaids at the hair salon and we relaxed there while they did a beautiful job. I loved the way the girls hair turned out, it was similar to my style, but a bit more flowing, and with little pearl beads scattered over top. Then us and dad taxied over to the hotel where we checked into our suite. Becka our makeup girl got busy and we waited for the boys to arrive with all my gear. We were running a bit late at that stage.

Finally I was all prettied up and ready, and had the beautiful dress on. We headed down to the Jaguar to be driven off for photos. Hopefully the photos will turn out well, but the light dropped quite early and so we didn't get as many photos as I might have hoped. The highlight would have to be of a little boy of about 2 or 3 years old, coming up to me in the rose garden at the Botanical gardens, and telling me that he thought I was very pretty.

The bridal party were all awesome. They were real troopers and were so brave even when it was a bit cold taking photos and stuff. I was VERY GLAD I had bought faux fur wraps for the girls, and a bolero one for myself. The girls looked gorgeous and the groomsmen and Michael looked very handsome. Everyone loved my dress and tiara, the rings and everything. I had many comments on the dress, especially about how clever my mum was for making it.

We headed down to the church, and all arrived early! So the boys went to greet people and say hi to the other guys who were being our ushers. Us girls and my father sat in a room behind the alter and waited quietly for the minister to call us. After a short while we could hear the organ start up, and then it was time for the big entrance.

The ceremony was beautiful. I almost cried but managed to keep the tears in my eyes from tumbling down. My father walked me down the aisle to Camile Saint Saens Organ symphony no. 3 (aka "If I had words" from "Babe"), played on the beautiful organ at Saint Johns Presbyterian Church. The minister was awesome - he made everyone feel relaxed and he tied his sermon in with the bible reading we had chosen from Song of Solomon. He also told us a story about love, using his hands to demonstrate that love in a marriage doesn't suffocate, and can grow to accommodate children - it was really neat and I'm not going to be able to look at touching palms the same way again.

We had about a hundred guests to the church and I got to give everyone kisses and hugs after the ceremony. It was really so special that we had so many lovely people to share our special day with. It took ages to meet with everyone, and then it was time to head off for the restaurant. This time it was Michael and I in the Jag, and the driver was really kind and offered to take us round the bays ("the scenic route") so we could have some time together before getting back to our guests.

We had the family dinner and it went fine. The Lonestar really looked after us and I thought they did a wonderful job. I have to say also that they are very reasonably priced. We had set menus so everyone ordered what they wanted and it worked out great. Everyone chatted and got along and a good time was had. We even managed to avoid speeches and toasts - brilliant.

We were so tired by the end of the day though. But I've had a chance to rest up now - for the party on tonight! It's going to rock!

Love,

Chaucey
