Wow - my party ROCKED! It was the best party I've ever been to. Michael and I both said we wouldn’t have changed anything!
We arrived at the Hutt Golf Club with 30 minutes to spare so that we could blow up helium balloons. They looked great bobbing around on the ceiling with their strings dangling down (the strings also helped us to get them down later!). The venue looked awesome, it was set up tidily and they’d supplied candles and even a chalkboard with our names in a heart.
DJ Richard did an awesome job throughout the whole night. He played great Music and really helped with the timing and keeping things moving along.
We had a few guests "revoke" their RSVP’s, and some no shows too (very disappointing), but we had 62 guests there on the night. ( I guess it makes whittling down the wedding invite list easier!)
We had a beautiful cake which exceeded my expectations (which I was not expecting when I asked the caterers to make a "plain slab cake"). We even did a proper cake cutting seeing as the cake was so pretty. There was nice food being circulated too.
The dancing was great. Michael and I started it off with a ceroc. Later we got a group of 4 couples together to do a La Ronde demo. At one point there was even a conga line of people dancing around the venue! We managed to fit in a waltz later on in the evening.
We received some lovely gifts which took ages to open and catalog yesterday. I’ve started on the thankyou notes and I’m ¼ of the way through. The most novel present was a website www.ellisnz.com (Ellis is our future married name). We also received lots of lovely kitchen and serving things and a styley lamp.
The whole thing went so fast. I wish it could have lasted longer.
Here are a couple of photos from the night:
