32. Sarah Hayes BOARDMAN (1)(9) (photo) was born on 3 Aug 1806 in England, Lancashire, Newton. She has reference number 7.. "She was living with her niece, Anne Dixon Hartman, at Grahamstown in 1876. Anne Dixon Hartman in a letter written by on 25 December 1876 from Grahamstown to her brother in Provo, Utah, says, '___ Aunt Crause sends her love to you. She keeps your likeness always on her drawer. She says you must let us know more about your wife and children.'
Her brother James, in a letter written on 4 March 1886 to F. Beck in Manchester states that his sister, wife of the late John Crause, was residing in Grahamstown."

She was married to John CRAUSE (son of CRAUSE) on 1 Dec 1825. John CRAUSE(10) (photo) was born about 1794 in England. An 1820 Settler. He was a member of Crause's Party, led by his brother, Lieutenant Charles Crause of Borstal Court Farm, West Rochester, Kent. Charles Crause was an officer of the Royal Marines on half-pay.

Lt. John Crause was an infantry officer (50th Regiment) who had been Adjutant at the Invalid Depot, Chatham. A third brother, Captain Henry Crause, was a member of the party led by their brother-in-law John Bailie.

The name of his first wife, Amelia, is included in the London list of party members but there is no record of her presence in the Colony, and it is assumed that she died in England.

The Crause Party settled between the Wellington and Kap rivers and was named Spanish Reeds.
