Deposits were paid for 60 men and their families to emigrate to the Cape. The party travelled from Nottingham to Liverpool by road. The women and children went by coach and the men walked. After three days the families, their baggage (including agricultural equipment, tradesmen's tools, supplies, clothes etc.), arrived at Liverpool docks where they boarded the transport ship "Albury".
The departure was delayed by bad weather but the "Albury" finally sailed from Liverpool on 13 February 1820 and arrived at Algoa Bay on 15 May 1820. The party was located on the Torrens River and their settlement was called Clumber."
