was born on 5 Oct 1795 in England, Lancashire, Newberry (Newburgh?). She was
christened on 31 Oct 1795 in England, Lancashire, Latham, Newburgh. She died
in 1837. She has reference number 1.. With her father, mother, brothers and
sisters dparted the Downs, London on 12 February 1820 on board "La Belle
Alliance". They arrived at Algoa Bay (Port Elizabeth) on 24 May 1820.
While on board, Mary becam well-acquainted with a young farmer, a member of Willson's
party, by the name of William John Earl, aged 19 (b. Lancashire, Newburgh, Lathom
10 October 1795). They married at Beaufort Vale (the Rev. William Boardman's
property) in 1822.
She was married to William John EARLE in 1822 in South Africa, Cape Colony,
Bathurst, "Beaufort Vale". William John EARLE

was born in 1800 in England. He died in 1853 in South Africa, Cape Colony,
Albany District. He was christened. An 1820 Settler; member of Willson's party;
sailed on "La Belle Alliance".
William became a teacher and in 1832 he and his wife Mary took over the Bathurst
Grammar School and the Cuylerville School, founded by the Rev. William Boardman.
While fighting in the 8th Frontier War of 1853 (formerly known as the 8th Kaffir
War), he was killed. Mary BOARDMAN and William John EARLE had the following
