1881. By a stroke of strange coincidence `or rather the guidance of an overruling
and Gracious Providence' the exact hour and date. Viz, 4 o'clock in the morning
of the 8th December, just two years after my lost son JAMES who was killed on
that day and hour, on the 8th December 1879."
"Departed this life on March the 1st 1902. Aged 20 years 2 months 12 days.
After a severe and fatal attack of Enteric Fever, caught when in service with
distinction all through the Anglo Boer War 1889 to 1902. Cape Colony, Orange

Died of enteric fever contracted while on active service as Corporal in the New
