THE NECRON MONOLITH

I have decided to add a Monolith to my Necron Army for the New Zealand Grand Tournament. Since it is such a huge model it deserves a lot of attention, and not just from painting. I don't tend to have much heavy support in my armies and so i want to justify the cost of this model by putting some serious effort into it.

THE PLAN:

STAGE ONE: CUTTING, CHOPPING AND DRILLING

The first part is to clean up the model and drill some of the first holes for the wiring. The model is reasonably easy to clean (in fact one of the pieces is so big it does not even come on a sprue) and that did not take too long. I am not positve exactly where all the holes will be needed but three of them were obvious. I started with a small drill bit as they are easier to control and then widened the hole with a size bigger. it is not the right size yet but that is not a problem as i don't have the LEDS yet :).

This is the back plate of the Monolith, i drilled a hole where on the other side the exhaust crystal goes. The plan is to have an LED shine through the back of the crsytal and make the engine light up.

This is the base plate. I drilled a hole in the middle where the pillar goes. The wires will go through this hole to the battery pack (whatever that ends up being).

This is the top plate and also connects to the central pillar. An LED will go through this hole and shine into the base of the main crystal.
