This is the start of my Imperial Guard Army based on the Elysian Drop Troop list. They are (currently) called the Phantine Skyborne after the regiment in the Guns of Tanith Novel. The Drop Troops use a variety of units with carapace armour and instead of just using Storm trooper models for everything I decided to convert up some of the units. I 'borrowed' the idea of using power armour torsos over catachan legs, i just decided to go further. Comments welcome to minipaint@paradise.net.nz .

 

Command Squad:

This is the Captain, no name yet. He has Catachan arms on a space marine torso (with space wolf, back torso). He has a marine plasma pistol and space wolf power sword. His shoulder plates are from the marauder box set as is his head. The various pouches and accessories are from the marine or catachan set. The Back pack is from the attack bike accessory sprue. I was watching Gladiator as i assembled him if you can see the influence.

One of the command squad troopers with a Grenade Launcher. The launcher is made from a Tau pulse carbine attached to the lasgun butt. The drum mag is from an Ork shoota and the strap from the Kroot sprue. His head is from the Empire Militia box.

Same bits as the last guy, but the head is from the hairy heads sprue and the left arm from the marauder box.

Same as the rest, head is from the Militia box and the left arm has had its hand turned over. All the models have had gloves sculpted on (a bit messily), and i need to do some more work on them.

Drop Troop Veterans

Veteran Sgt. His legs, torso and arms are from the Catachan set, and his head from the sentinel set. His various accessories are from the Kroot, Marine, and Catachan boxes.

The Heavy Weapons guy. Legs, Torso and arms from the Catachan box. His right hand was carrying a lasgun but it was cut down to fit the Missile Launcher from the Land Raider accessorie sprue. The Launcher was cut down and puttied up to make it fit, and the sight from the Ork sprue added. His head is from the hairy heads sprue and his shoulder pad from the Marauder box (with spike removed). The spare missiles from the marine sprue were added to his hand and shoulder pad.

The Plasma Gun is from the new Chaos box and the shoulder pads from the Kroot Box.

The Sniper rifle was made from a Kroot rifle with the blades cut off and added to the rifle butt, the sight from the marine set was added as was the Kroot strap. The shoulder pad is a cut down Marauder pad and has Kroot shells added to it, as well as Kroot accessories to his pants.

Special Weapons Squad

This guy still has a lot of work to go, he is just blu tacked for now to give me an idea. I am planning on smoothing out the grooves in his helmet and cutting off the spike (from the marauder box) on his shoulderpad. He needs gloves puttied on and accessories added. All models in the unit will have the skull shoulder pad as well.
