This Destroyer Lord was painted in an attempt to get away from Codex schemes - I think he looks great. The mottled blue and gold is an interesting colour scheme that I think would look fantastic across a whole Necron army - just imagine how awesome a Monolith would look! The options for the rods would be to paint them, or to replace the green rods with blue rods from Plastruct, who make a few different colours and diameters of plastic rods, that need to be cut to size. Alan's excellent Necron army used red Plastruct rods, which really made it stand out. My personal preference is always paint :-).
