Choosing the best power system for your model can be confusing, as there are so many combinations of motor, gearbox, prop and battery to consider. One way to help is to test various setups, and publish the results (motor current, rpm etc.). However, this is of limited use as not every combination can be tested, and new products are constantly being developed.
Motocalc attempts to address this issue by maintaining an updatable database of component parameters, and using mathematical formulae to predict your model's performance. Its success is critically dependant on having accurate data. Unfortunately, manufacturers often supply product information that is inadequate or even just plain wrong! Therefore, my goal is to measure everything I can, even if just to check the accuracy of published specifications.
