Filmed entirely in New Zealand - 'Home of Middle Earth'

The Seven Years War, which lasted from 1756 to 1763, has been described as the first 'world war'.  Not only were all the European powers involved, but the war was fought in North America, the West Indies, and the subcontinent of India as well as Europe.

The French army of the period was one of the most colourful, however, their record on the battlefield was not particulaly consistent.   One contemporary account of the French army of the period states '....there was no discipline, no subordination, no order of march, in the camp or in the battlefield.  the very sualterns had their mistresses with them, and officers often left their men to accompany them on their march in their carriages.   Everything that could contribute to the luxury of the officers was found in the French camp...Balls were given in camp, and officers left their posts to dance the minuet.   They laughed at the orders of their leaders and only obeyed when it suited them.'

Seemed like the perfect army for me to collect! It may not always do well on the battlefield, - but it should always look the best and be having a good time ...
