The
book AROHA LOVE is a result of a
national photographic competition designed to promote up and coming New Zealand photographers,
and to celebrate the uniqueness of New Zealanders. The best photographs with a theme of
love and relationships were chosen by a panel of judges, and compiled in the
book AROHA LOVE.
In
September 2008, I advertised this
competition throughout New Zealand.
It was open to people of all ages and
abilities. In a three month period, I received over 3,000 photographs by
more than 500 photographers from Kerikeri to Stewart Island - I then knew, that
my dream was going to turn into a reality.
The 3,000 images were culled down to the best 200 images which were
judged by a panel. I collated the book, combining quotes,
proverbs and sayings.
I
would like to thank all of the photographers who entered the competition. Your enthusiasm resulted in this book
being a success. I would also like
to thank the judges for their time, support and
insight.
Congratulations
to Fiona Andersen from South Canterbury, who is the overall supreme winner of
the L. I. F. E competition. Her
photograph “A moment of love - two sisters sharing a hug” is printed on the
front cover.
I
have really enjoyed this journey, and continue to be impressed with the talent
of New Zealand photographers. I hope that as you pore over the pages, you are
inspired to dust off your camera and capture moments in time that will always be
treasured.
